Obd2 scanner or no power or ground is found on both pins

The way to Troubleshoot a 99 Ford Taurus That may be Totally Dead & Has No Power 1Set the digital volt/ohm meter for volts dc and touch the meter leads to the battery terminals ( the battery terminals are the lead portion of the battery that the cables attach to). Minimum battery voltage to test the system is 12.5 volts. If the voltage indicated on the meter is below 12.5, charge the battery before testing the system. With the battery charged, turn on the high-beam headlights and turn the heater blower motor to high speed. Retest the battery. It should maintain 12.0 volts under the load from the accessories. If the battery voltage drops below 12.0 volts with the accessories on, replace the battery.2Test the battery cable connections for a voltage drop. Touch the negative battery terminal with the negative meter lead while touching the negative battery cable with the positive meter lead. A reading of more than .1 volts on the meter indicates a bad connection. Remove the cable end, clean the connection and retest. Test both battery cable connections in this manner and clean the connections as needed. Perform the same test where the negative cable connects to the engine block.3Check for power to the starter solenoid using the automotive circuit tester. Attach the clips on the tester to the battery and touch the probe end to the terminal that the positive battery cable is attached to on the solenoid. Power should be indicated at all times.4Open the under-hood fuse block and visually inspect the 40-amp main fuse and the 10-amp starter fuse in position 20 in the fuse block. Replace any fuse found to be defective. Turn the ignition key to the run position. Touch the probe end of the circuit tester to the test pins on the 10-amp fuse. Power should be indicated on both test pins. If power is indicated on one pin, and ground is indicated on the other test pin Professional diagnositic tools, replace the fuse. If ground is found on both pins, or no power or ground is found on both pins Obd2 scanner, replace the ignition switch. Related articles:
